VOLCANO

Terms

VOLCANO is a website and a memecoin, $VOLCANO. It is entertainment built on public scientific data. Read this before you use it.

What VOLCANO is

VOLCANO maps a Solana address to one of the 1,214 Holocene volcanoes in the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program database, Volcanoes of the World, and draws that volcano in pixels from its public record. The mapping is deterministic and documented on the site and in the public API.

What it is not

It is not a hazard warning, a forecast or safety advice. The live layer repeats what the USGS and the Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report publish, late and incompletely; it can be wrong or out of date. For anything to do with safety, follow your local volcano observatory and civil authorities, never this site.

It is not a sale of anything physical. Nobody owns, buys or sells a volcano, land or any right in one through VOLCANO. A saved volcano and its card are records and pictures. Cards that mint as NFTs at launch are images of a public record with a line the holder wrote.

It is not investment advice, and $VOLCANO is not an investment product. Memecoins are volatile and can lose all their value. Only use money you can afford to lose.

It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Smithsonian Institution, the Global Volcanism Program, the US Geological Survey, Natural Earth, Peter Bird or Nordpil, or any observatory, university or survey.

The data

Volcano and eruption records: Global Volcanism Program, 2026. [Database] Volcanoes of the World (v. 5.4.0; 7 Aug 2026). Distributed by Smithsonian Institution, compiled by Venzke, E. https://doi.org/10.5479/si.GVP.VOTW5-2026.5.4. Live status: the USGS Volcano Hazards Program (US volcanoes only) and the Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report. Plate boundaries: Bird (2003), via Ahlenius / Nordpil, under the Open Data Commons Attribution License. Land and sea floor: Natural Earth (public domain). Records contain mistakes and change as researchers update them; VOLCANO shows them as they are and dates its copy.

Your wallet

Signing in signs a plain text message, never a transaction. VOLCANO never asks for your seed phrase or private key and never moves funds. "Use my wallet" only reads your public address.

Your line

The line you write on your card is yours and public once you save it. Don't write anything unlawful, hateful or personal about someone else. We may remove text that is.

No warranty

VOLCANO is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. The data services it reads can be slow or down. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or the coin.
